DILS in December: Legal Obstacles to Intervention in the Syrian Arab Republic

DILS’ second event, Legal Obstacles to Intervention in the Syrian Arab Republic, is due to take place in the CEPMLP’s Carnegie Lecture Theater on 3 December 2013 at 5.15 pm.

The event includes screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, ‘Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution – Syria’, which tells the story of the Syrian struggle for democracy from the eyes of Mowya, a 32-year-old rebel commander, and Nour, a 24-year-old journalist and a former English teacher.

Subsequently, Dr. Jacques Hartmann, Lecturer in International Law – Dundee Law School, will address the rules on the use of force in international law. He will analyze the principle of humanitarian intervention, and will examine if international law provides a legal basis for military intervention in Syria.

The event will be followed by a Q&A session. Afterwards, DILS and Dr. Hartmann will be in Tonic Cafe Bar for further discussion and early Christmas refreshments.
