After years of negotiation, in December 2015 parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change adopted a new climate agreement. The agreement was expected to set the world on a path to address the greatest challenge to ever face humankind. The adoption of the agreement has been greeted with enthusiasm, but also with caution.

Dr Annalisa Savaresi has closely followed the negotiation of the agreement since its inception as a reporter for the Earth Negotiation Bulletin. In her talk, she will reflect on the new treaty and on where it leaves States in their efforts to tackle climate change.
