PhD Fellowships to 6 Early Stage Researchers

The University of Macerata (Italy) collaborates with Philips Research (The Netherlands) and imec-DistriNet/KU Leuven in the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie project HEART (MSCA-ITN Industrial Doctorate (Grant Agreement No. 766139, http://www.heart-itn.eu), which investigates the design and development of a “HEalth related Activity Recognition system based on the Internet-of-Things (IoT)”.

HEART is an international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary training program providing PhD Fellowships to 6 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in the research fields of ICT, legal studies and the international business domain:

– ESR1: HEALTH BEHAVIOR ANALYTICS ON HETEROGENEOUS DATA – ESR2: SCALABILITY OF DATA ANALYTICS – ESR3: SCALABILITY OF DATA PROCESSING – ESR4: PRIVACY AND SECURITY ANALYTICS – ESR5: PRIVACY BY DESIGN AND BY RESEARCH. THE LEGAL ISSUES FROM CONCEPTUALIZATION TO COMMERCIALIZATION – ESR6: UNDERSTANDING CHINA: FROM CUSTOMERS’ NEEDS TO MARKET PENETRATION

Hiring institutions: – ESR1 and ESR4 will be hired by Philips Electronics Nederland B.V. (the Netherlands); – ESR2 and ESR3 will be hired by KU Leuven (Belgium); – ESR5 and ESR6 will be hired by the University of Macerata (Italy).

PhD Enrolment: – ESR1, ESR2, ESR3, ESR4 will be enrolled at the Doctoral School of KU Leuven, – ESR5, ESR6 will be enrolled at the Doctoral School of the University of Macerata. Important dates: – By 14th October 2017: Candidates must apply by submitting required documents through the HEART online application system available at www.heart-itn.it – By 23rd October 2017: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit to a interview (also via videoconference) with their supervisory team. Interviews will be held from 30 October 2017 to 10 November 2017. Candidates may be required to have a further interview to be held face to face (in this case costs of travel and accommodation will be reimbursed). – By 17th November 2017: Shortlisted candidates will be informed about final decision. – By 27th November 2017: Selected candidates will have to confirm in writing their decision to accept the offered position, otherwise they will lose the position and the following candidate in the ranking list will be recruited. – December 2017: Selected candidates will be recruited by hiring institutions. – January 2018: employment contracts will start.
