November 2014 (Date and Venue to be Confirmed)
November 2014 is the 25th anniversary of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention has been ratified in almost every country around the world but has it made a material difference to the lives of children?
David Law previously lectured at the University of Dundee on the Law relating to Child Care and Protection as well as being a qualified Social Worker responsible for Child Protection at a Scottish Local Authority. Drawing on his experience, he will outline the progress made in ensuring children’s rights have been protected and discussing what still needs to be done.
Particular consideration will be given to the degree to which Children’s Rights have been incorporated into national and international private law with, it is hoped, contributions from some of the international students and staff in the university.
