Colombia – A Country Navigating Transitional Justice: Its Negotiation and Perspectives.

A Lecture by the delegates of the Colombian Government for the drafting and editing of the text agreed with FARC-EP.

BiosDr. Henao is the Principal of Universidad Externado de Colombia, and was previously a Magistrate and President of the Constitutional Court of the country. He holds a masters degree in Public Law as well as a PhD from Pantheon-Assas University of Paris (II), and has published numerous books and peer-reviewed articles in fields such as administrative law, environmental damage and constitutional law. He has also been a professor at Universidad Externado de Colombia, and an invited professor at the Institut de Hautes Études de Science Politiques (Science Po) in Paris. He was recently appointed by the Government of Colombia to be one of its delegates for the deliberations on the Transitional Justice System in the negotiation of the Peace Agreement with the insurgent group FARC-EP, which led to the end of 50 years of war in Colombia.


Dr. Yesid Reyes: Dr. Reyes is the Head of the Research Centre on Philosophy and Law of Universidad Externado de Colombia, and was previously the Minister of Justice in the Colombian Government of Juan Manuel Santos. He has also been an Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of Colombia and a member of the Advisory Board on Criminal Policy forthe Government, as well as a reputed attorney for over 20 years. He holds a masters degree in criminal law and criminology from Universidad Externado de Colombia, a PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a research scholarship from the Alexander von Humbolt Foundation in Bonn, Germany. As Minister of Justice he was recently appointed by the Government of Colombia to be one of its delegates for the deliberations on the Transitional Justice System in the negotiation of the Peace Agreement with the insurgent group FARC-EP, which led to the end of 50 years of war in Colombia.
